"Stronger. Together." That’s the philosophy of Sky Blue Homes when it comes to supporting the local community, and truly giving something back.
Sky Blue Homes has joined forces with the Greggs Foundation and we’re now one of a list of official supporters of the Breakfast Club scheme that aims to give school children across the country the best possible start to the day.
Breakfast Club at the Bridge Learning Campus will help 70 children
We’ve made a donation to the Greggs Foundation which will cover the running of a Breakfast Club at the Bridge Learning Campus in Bristol for the next two years. The Breakfast Club will help the lives of around 70 children, physically, academically and socially.
"Through the amazing donation from Sky Blue Homes, you are helping us nurture the next generation. You are helping us to undo all of the issues caused, not just by Covid but through systemic deprivation. You have helped us to start changing mindsets, improve life chances and support the total wellbeing of our children"
The Bridge Learning Campus is based in Bristol and caters for around 70 primary school children. Many are from poorer areas of the Bristol area.
The school prides itself on the learning opportunities it provides for children, ultimately preparing them to be responsible citizens. Children are encouraged to speak confidently through taught oracy skills, have excellent manners and show kindness and respect to others.
Elizabeth Hackling, Assistant Head of Bridge Learning Campus says: “You’ve heard the phrase ‘most important meal of the day’? Well, at Bridge Learning Campus, this is the biggest understatement ever!”
“Starting with basic physical need, if students are in attendance at our Breakfast Club, we know they have been fed and will be ready to start their lessons with better concentration and more energy. When the Breakfast Club started, trips to the medical room dropped.
“Breakfast Club gives us that extra time to fill in any gaps and pre-teach students for the day ahead. Post Covid as we try to catch up, the Greggs Foundation Breakfast club will play a vital role in this.
“Socially, our children get the chance to interact with one another, to chat and to play, to develop their vocabulary and oracy. They improve their manners and become more confident in their attitudes. Their mental wellbeing improves.”
"In short, through the amazing donation from Sky Blue Homes, you are helping us nurture the next generation. You are helping us to undo all of the issues caused, not just by Covid but through systemic deprivation. You have helped us to start changing mindsets, improve life chances and support the total wellbeing of our children."
